Our Process

Each brand design project takes approximately 5 to 8 weeks.  Full brand projects (brand/print/web) typically take anywhere from 3+ months.  All time estimates are dependent upon the individual project, number/complexity of revisions, client response timeliness, and my current booking schedule. A detailed schedule with estimated milestones will be given to each client upon project start via Asana, my project management program.

The Inquiry

Thank you for choosing Dash of Ink!

Like any relationship, it all starts with a first date to make sure we are a good match. By this point you will have completed the Design Inquiry you will receive an email from me to schedule your design consultation by either phone or Google Hangout.  We will discuss your business, vision and goals for your brand development and you get the chance to ask me any question that comes to mind. This step will give us both a chance to get to know one another and make sure we are going to make an awesome team. During the consult is also the time where we will talk about time frames, pricing, and expectations.   


Booking

We fit! Great! You will be receiving a Welcome Packet from us! This will include a custom proposal of the services that we will be doing for you and what you will receive from Dash of Ink at the conclusion of our time together.

  • The packet will also include a description of costs and services and your design quote. It will also include a contract listing our terms and agreements.

  • This is the time to complete the invoice for our first milestone payment to hold your spot in the Dash of Ink queue at this time. 

  • We will set up a shared google drive and Asana account. We use Asana to streamline the design process and this will be the first line of communication


The WAITING aREA

Since there is typically a wait time between this step and the next, I give you a little homework to prepare for our upcoming project.  

  • Now is the time to make sure you have all of you content ready, your photos (must be done by a professional photographer), and social media links ready to go.

  • It is also a great idea to create a custom branding Pinterest board for your inspiration. This will help me see the direction that you want to go in. So compile a board of your favorite color schemes, fonts, styles, layouts, etc.

  • Last but not least, this is where you take the time to learn the website platform that your business will be running. All websites are designed in Squarespace, Shopify or WIX.


The Designing

Cheers! So, your project start date is here and now it’s time to get this party started.  The first step of the branding process is the creation of an inspiration board based on your Pinterest board.  I will study your questionnaire and create a color palette along with style inspiration that will set the overall tone of your new brand.  Now that we have established and finalized your inspiration board, I will then get to work on creating the cornerstone of your new brand. I will start creating logos, sub logos or layouts based on your wants and needs for your project, I will send you samples to review to see if I am on the right path. Then we will keep revising until it is perfect for your brand!

 Once your branding is solid, we will move on to the web design. By this time, you will have completed your website questionnaire and be working on completing all of your content for each page. All site photography and content is due prior to website mockup completion and before we go to the development stages (all files shared by dropbox folder).  During this step, the final mockup of the home page and all interior pages are completed and approved by you before moving onto the development phase.  Any delays in content may delay your project and bump it back in the pipeline, so make sure you complete your homework.

Once you have signed off on the design, we will begin putting your site together. There will be some downtime for you during this phase as they work their magic and bring your design to life.  Please allow approximately 2-4 weeks for development phase. At the end of this step, you will be delivered a live test site link developed and hosted on our server for your review and approval. Remember your final payment will be due at this time. 


The Launch

We will go through your site and see what is missing and what we need to add. This will be the time to ask questions about your site.  We will also hold our tutorial at this time to show you how to make updates to your site from the backend. I will be sending you your own personal brand kit with all your brand images, layout, and links.  Once your site is complete, your new custom developed website will be uploaded onto your server Once our final checklist is complete and all systems are green, we will launch your new site to the world!
